August Education Moves the Mission Moment – Navajo Medical Interpreter Training

Navajo Medical Interpreter Training Empowers Local Professionals

On July 15–17, 2025, the Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions proudly hosted a transformative Navajo Medical Interpreter Training at North Country HealthCare’s learning center. Led by esteemed instructor Ida C. Bradley, the intensive three-day program welcomed 11 dedicated participants from across the region, including several North Country HealthCare employees. Each attendee successfully completed both oral and written certification requirements, earning their official certificate of completion

Participants practice anatomy terms during the Navajo Medical Interpreter Training on July 17th in Flagstaff.

This impactful training was fully sponsored by the Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions through a grant from the Direct Relief Fund for Health Equity. The center covered all tuition fees, meals and refreshments throughout the 9-hour training days and ensured a supportive learning environment.

This event exemplifies North Country HealthCare’s commitment to culturally responsive care and workforce development.

Congratulations to all newly certified interpreters who will now help bridge communication gaps and improve healthcare access for Navajo-speaking patients!
