Future Faces of Family Medicine is an after-school program targeted to high school students in the Flagstaff area who express an interest in a health career. Students are mentored by the Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions Family and Community Residency Program resident physicians. Priority of program acceptance is given to students of minority, lower income, or first-generation college bound, but all students interested in health and medicine are encouraged to apply.
What to Expect:
- Workshops on suturing, heart dissection, and ultrasound
- Expert panel with a variety of healthcare professionals
- Post-secondary education and financial assistance exploration
- Completion of a research project with a poster presentation
- Â Shadow resident physicians in the clinic
- Obtain CPR certification
Future Faces of Family Medicine Program Requirements
The Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions at North Country HealthCare presents a health career interest program for high school students, Future Faces of Family Medicine. The next session will begin in fall of 2025. Students will meet with our Family Medicine Resident Physicians weekly to learn about different careers in healthcare, participate in hands-on workshops, and learn valuable skills to add to your college applications. We are looking for high school students (priority given to minority, lower income, or first-generation college backgrounds) who are interested in exploring a health career participate – no transcript required.
Program Requirements & Eligibility:
- Students must be enrolled in high school to participate in our program.
- Parent and school permission is required for participation in the program.
- Must be available for all required workshops and program activities at North Country HealthCare’s 4th St clinic (2920 N 4th St. Flagstaff, AZ 86004) every Wednesday from 5-6:30pm.
