Indigenous Pride Health Workers (IPHW) is a 7-week summer program designed to introduce Hopi youth to careers in the health field. It is a true reflection of the Hopi Health Care Center’s Vision Statement: “We advocate our youth’s attainment of health careers, ultimately assuming roles as local caregivers.”
Students engage in mentorship at Hopi Health Care Center in which they participate in job shadowing, health fairs, and a health
research project. The Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions supports this innovative program and also coordinates a 4-day residential camp at Northern Arizona University and North Country HealthCare. At camp, the students are exposed to health career undergraduate programs and financial aid, conducting scholarly research and delivering presentations, First Aid/BLS certification, and team building through a variety of activities.
Summer 2025 information will come out in Spring of 2025.
