January Education Moves the Mission Moment

Allied Health Tuition Scholarship Awards

In fall 2024, North Country HealthCare (NCHC) announced a new program to provide short-term sponsorship of tuition for employees who are participating in a health career training program for a clinical support role, funded by a grant from the Direct Relief Fund for Health Equity.

The purpose of the grant is to develop a health workforce that reflects the communities of northern Arizona and provide individuals the opportunity to advance their skills and improve their health career mobility, while working to fill critical healthcare roles needed in NCHC communities. Congratulations to our awardees, Suzanne Gallo, Anthony Blackhorse, Carolyn Thompson and Tasha Begay! Read more about each of them below.

“This will be my third associate degree, but my second in the medical field,” Anthony shares. “I’m starting with prerequisites, moving to core classes, and eventually transferring to NAU for my BSN.” In his current role, Anthony is expanding his scope of practice, handling triage calls, and taking on administrative duties. Carolyn Thompson – Patient Care Coordinator, Williams

Carolyn Thompson, a Patient Care Coordinator in Williams’ Physical Therapy department, is advancing her skills by pursuing the Physical Therapy Technician Certification program, an eight-week course running from January 13th to March 17th. This training will enhance her ability to support her team, train future coordinators, and better meet the needs of providers and patients.

“The training is still early, but so far the best moment for me was when I read the syllabus and got to see everything that I would be able to learn and all the topics available to me,” Carolyn shares. With her training underway, Carolyn is excited to bring new insights and skills to benefit her team and the patients she serves. Read more here.
