At the Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions, we offer a variety of programs aimed at high school students interested in exploring a career in health care, including public health. Some programs take place at our North Country HealthCare Flagstaff location and some are summer camps run by other community partners in a variety of areas. If you want to try hands on labs like dissecting a pig heart or learning to suture, hear from professionals in the healthcare field, or get advice on how to make plans after high school, then check out our programs below. 

Academic Year Programs

Future Faces of Family Medicine

Future Faces of Family Medicine is an after-school program targeted to high school students in the Flagstaff area who have an interest in a health career. Students are mentored by the Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions Family and Community Residency Program resident physicians.

Med Start

Med-Start is a 6 week intensive residential experience for high school juniors interested in health professions located at the University of Arizona, this enrichment program is organized o provide high school students with skill building activities, health career exploration, team building, scholarly research experience, and more

ISEP with Diné College

The Navajo Native American Research Center for Health (NARCH) is accepting applications for the 2024 Indigenous Summer Enhancement Program (ISEP). Students will experience staying on a college campus for 8 days, learning about public health, health research, and Navajo culture/philosophy.

Indigenous Pride Health Workers

Indigenous Pride Health Workers (IPHW) is a 7-week summer program designed to introduce Hopi youth to careers in the health field. Students engage in mentorship at Hopi Health Care Center in which they participate in job shadowing, health fairs, and a health research project.

The Tuba City Regional Health Care Corp High School Exploration Program (TCRHCC-HSEP) is a summer program aimed to expose students to careers in the health care field through clinical shadowing at Tuba City Regional Health Care in Tuba City AZ.

Colorado Plateau Center for Health Professions collaborates with other AHECs in Arizona for the Future Health Leaders Camp. This week-long summer camp brings together high school students from across Arizona and provides opportunities for students to interact with professionals from a wide range of health careers.
